Diane Monroe: Violin Woman, African Dreams
Friday, April 12, 2024 | 7:30 PM. Violinist Diane Monroe’s versatility and expressive artistry consistently bring audiences to their feet. Her visibility as a jazz artist began with her long-standing membership as the first violinist of the Uptown String Quartet and the Max Roach Double Quartet. In this piece, she crafts a musical memoir that bridges jazz, classical, and traditional African music, revealing an African-American violinist’s trials and triumphs.
Lehigh University Department of Theatre: This Emancipation Thing
Friday, April 12 - 20, 2024. Written & directed by Sara Lyons. A feminist multimedia consciousness-raising session. With reproductive rights slipping through our fingers, what wisdom must we learn from the activists who ushered in Roe v. Wade? The theater becomes a multimedia consciousness-raising session as archival texts from 1968 and interview transcripts with feminists of all ages and genders create a collaborative installation that collapses time.

Miles for Kids
Saturday, April 13, 2024 | 10 AM. This is a fun, family friendly run, walk and roll for all abilities. The suggested distance is 4 laps (1 mile). You will have an opportunity to earn a bead four times per lap to create a fun bracelet. Kids activities and food truck will be available. Sign up by March 25th to receive a free t-shirt. All proceeds go toward building Cindy's Playground, an inclusive play space for all to enjoy and be active.

Get Out! for Wellness Series: Wildlands’ Black River Sanctuary 
Saturday, April 13, 2024 | 10 AM to 12 PM. Wildlands Conservancy recently acquired 187 acres across the road from Franko Farm Recreation Area. The Sanctuary is in both Upper Saucon and Salisbury townships. This area provides fine views of the Lehigh Valley and is known as a stopover for migrating birds. There are smooth treadways as well as rocks and roots. We’ll climb gradually on a switchback trail to the power line. Cross in front of a pile of big rocks, cross the power line and re-enter the woods. Lots of plants and wildflowers in the open area under the power line. The elevation gain is 393 feet. We’ll descend through forest on the other side of the ridge and then ascend the south face of the power line, pass some intriguing rock formations, and back down. This hike is about 3 miles.

Shankweiler’s 90th Anniversary Celebration

Having opened in 1934, it’s the second drive-in theater ever built and the oldest continuously operating drive-in theatre in the world! Danish String Quartet
